Lily and Mark’s Wedding

Another winter wedding for us in December 2011– we actually had 3 that month! Despite the obvious challenges with light we really enjoy shooting winter weddings– they have a warmth and an energy all of their own, and we’d like to think we’re getting pretty good at capturing them (modesty aside!) Lily and Mark’s wedding was only a week before Christmas Day, and it was full of the seasonal spirit. Lily and Mark are a very talented couple.… Rather than the traditional first dance this couple took to the stage to give us a rendition of ‘Fever’, with Lily on vocals and Mark on lead guitar. It was yet another example of a couple injecting their unique personalities into their wedding day, which we really love to see! We hope you enjoy the images! We don’t normally do a ‘plug’ on our blog but if you would like to book us for a winter wedding (November to February) you will receive a 15% discount on our standard package prices.

Andrew & Louise’s Wedding

At the beginning of September we were lucky enough to cover the wedding of Andrew & Louise at the lovely Farnham House Hotel in Surrey (on the borders of Hampshire). This is the second time we’ve covered a wedding there and it’s a great venue to work at, as the staff bend over backwards to help out. The wedding included both a civil ceremony as well as Jewish ceremony, and we were made to feel very welcome by both families– thanks Andrew & Louise!

Fun Group Shots

Group shots are boring right? Wrong! Actually if you take your time with them they can be really good fun, creative and (sometimes) dead funny! We took this group shot at Matt and Jo’s recent wedding, which had an eclectic mix of influences, from 1920’s elegance to Hollywood inspired Americana and a dose of American Football thrown in as well. As well as being a wonderfully individual wedding we were very fortunate to work with such a lovely, fun bunch of people. Sometimes, this is just the best job in the world! You get to indulge your creativity and have a whole lot of fun in the process. Watch this space for more shots from this fab wedding.

Fabricio & Maiko Part 2

Following the wonderful picnic and portrait session in Richmond Park, we decided to take Fabricio and Maiko down to the riverside to get some more portraits whilst the light was fading. You get a beautiful ‘warm’ light at this time of day which is perfect for romantic portraits, and Fabricio were brilliant to work with.  I just love the images that Brenda took of Fabricio and Maiko ‘framed’ by the arch of the bridge.

We then had a brief 30 minutes break for a sandwich (even photographers need to refuel) before meeting our lovely couple at the Rodizio Rico Brazilian restaurant in Fulham. They were joined by more friends at this stage and they had a truly wonderful evening meal. I must admit, the food looked dead tasty.

All in all this was a really wonderful wedding– very warm, intimate and personal, and without a doubt one of our favourite weddings of 2011.

Maiko & Fabricio’s Wedding Part 1

Maiko and Fabricio got married on a lovely day in August. Their day started off at the very grand Wandsworth Registry Office, with just themselves and two other couples present (not forgetting little Natalie of course!) This was followed by portraits in Richmond Park. For those of you that don’t know you need a license to photograph for commercial use in any of the Royal Parks. We found this out literally the day before the wedding! Needless to say we managed to secure a license in time– phew!

We normally have 30 minutes or so at weddings to take portraits of our couples, but in this case we were spoilt, as we had a full hour to get portraits of Maiko and Fabricio! This is unusual in the UK but the norm in the States, and we would encourage more couples to allow this much time– It really does allow us photographers to have more time to get a great range of creative and beautiful portraits. This full hour meant that we got some great images of Maiko and Fabricio sharing a picnic with their close friends at the park, followed by some relaxed portraits. We hope you love these pictures, and we look forwards to sharing part 2 of their day with you shortly!
